This Virtual Food Festival in Pampanga Will Make Your Mouth Water
The best of the best of Kapamangan cuisine!
Kapampangan cuisine is synonymous to delicious food. Every plate is a meal tied to its region's history: from centuries under colonial rule, the folk of Pampanga have managed to blend foreign techniques with local tastes—sometimes making do with what’s available and sometimes going for ubos-biyaya dishes to celebrate special occasions—but all in all creating and owning so many of the most delicious dishes that Luzon is known for.
This culinary diversity was celebrated in the recent Flavors of Pampanga: Manyaman! food festival, which was streamed live via the Department of Tourism’s Facebook page and Youtube channel in the latter part of May. Different chefs paid homage to the best of what Pampanga has to offer, showcasing family recipies that have been past down from one generation to the next.
“Pampanga, indeed, has a rich and colorful history and heritage,” says Carolina D. Uy, Department of Tourism – Region 3, “And other unique ways of cooking na amin pa pong minana sa aming mga ninuno”
Hilton Clark Executive Sous Chef Patricia Mesina shares why food is always delicious in Pampanga: “Ang mga Kapampangan ay masarap magluto kasi nasa puso ang pagluluto.”
