Batangas City Temporarily Shuts Resorts as Precaution vs COVID Spread
Resorts need permits.
The city of Batangas said it was temporarily closing resorts and accommodation establishments in its locality as a precautionary measure against the spread of COVID-19.
The closure began Thursday, March 18, the city government said in an announcement. It did not mention until when the suspension is effective.
"Ito ay isa ring pagan para maiwasan ang pagdagsa ng mga turista mula sa ibang lugar at mapigilan ang pagkalat ng COVID-19 sa lungsod," the city government said.
Resorts and accommodation establishments were told to get the necessary permits from the Department of Tourism.
The move comes as the country guards against the spread of new virus variants and a surge of COVID-19 infections centered in Metro Manila.
