We all have our favorite flowers! However, nowadays, one of the the most popular ones are sunflowers. It is probably because of their big, bright, and yellow blooms that can uplift one’s spirit. Would you believe that there was a time when these flowers can only be enjoyed whenever you visit Baguio City? So it’s quite understandable that people go crazy whenever they find a new place that offers fields of these rays of sunshine. Whether you want to have Instagram-worthy photos or simply immerse and appreciate the beauty of these blooms, here are places you can visit to enjoy them:

UP Diliman

The rows of sunflowers blooming along University Avenue near the oval have become part of an annual graduation tradition ever since the 80s. These flowers bloom around the same time the students graduate—formerly, around April, but UP shifted their academic calendar and the experts in the University of the Philippines Diliman Campus Maintenance Office (UPD CMO) found a way for these flowers to bloom during the rainy season (around June), which is also when the students graduate. These sunflowers have become a symbol of hope for the graduating students, something they look forward to through all those sleepless and restless nights and days while working on every academic requirement.

Sunflower Maze (Tayug, Pangasinan)

When word got out that there’s a sunflower maze opening in Pangasinan, everyone started preparing for a road trip up North. The Sunflower Maze in Tayug became a viral hit on social media last year so much so that they had to temporarily close it due to the high-volume foot traffic. This year, just in time for the municipality’s Sunflower Festival, a new maze will be open from March 12 to May 31, 2018.

If you’re visiting the beautiful islands of Cebu, make sure to add Sirao Flower Garden to your city tour itinerary. This flower garden is perfect for anyone who loves great landscapes, enjoys taking photos (the fields of flowers can either be the perfect backdrop or subject), and those who enjoy being around vibrant flowers and plants. Known as the mini-Amsterdam of Cebu and for their vibrant Celosia flower fields, Sirao Flower Garden has a variety of flowering plants that people can enjoy, and yes that includes sunflowers!

Angel’s Sunflower Field (Candelaria, Quezon)

A four-hour drive away from Metro Manila, this recently opened sunflower field is slowly making its rounds on social media as one of the newest floral attractions in the country. Aside from the fields and fields of sunflowers, Angel’s also has different flowering plants visitors can enjoy, from marigolds to bougainvillea, plus they also have a flower market so you can purchase some greeneries to freshen your home.

RL Tip: Some of these places have entrance fees, which change from time to time, it’s better to contact them first to know how much the current rates are and to check if the flowers are in full bloom.
