RL Ideas: Practical Tips for Wrapping Gifts

Find out how to prepare presents that are almost too pretty to unwrap

Before you get started, here are a few gift wrapping reminders:

  1. Before Christmas hits, make a gift-wrapping kit. Store rolls of wrapping paper in a clean waste bin; assemble scissors, tape, etc. in a basket.
  2. Keep it simple by sticking to two wrapper themes-one for adults, and one for kids. Jazz it up with different-colored ribbons. It will also look better when placed under your tree.
  3. Stick Post-it-Notes with the names of the recipients to identify gifts before adding tags. This will help avoid embarrassing mix-ups!
  4. Hit the stationery stores right after the holiday season-this is when everything Christmas-y goes on sale. Then save the wrappers for next year.

Sweet Bohemian

For a soft, feminine look, choose wrapping paper with a damask print. Tie everything together with pastel-colored ribbon.

Autumn Revival

Start with simple wrapping paper with graphic print. Instead of using just one type of ribbon, use two! Match opaque ribbon with sheer ribbon for a chic look.

This holiday season, don't pick holiday-themed wrapping paper. Go for a refreshing look inspired by nature with leaf prints and sheer green ribbon.

Luxe Love

Who says you can only use gift wrapping paper? You can mimic the look of rich velvet fabric with deep-colored felt paper. This will look perfect with shiny gold ribbon.

Bright On!

You can also use neon-colored cartolina paper for an extra happy glow under the tree! Complete the packages with ribbon in loud, vibrant shades.
