While Boracay may be overrated for frequent travelers, it's still top of mind for beach getaways. Its powdery white sand, restaurants that always have something new to offer, and long-standing establishments that have survived the six-month rehabilitation and two-year pandemic are more than enough reasons to visit the island. And if you're looking for an affordable place to stay, Henann Group of Resorts just opened its seventh property that boasts value-for-money service: Henann Park Resort along the main road in Station 2. It has been on soft opening since April.

"Boracay has always meant the world to us as a family, and our Henann locations are a way for us to share that love with vacationers from the Philippines and all over the world. We're excited about the opening of Henann Park Resort, which is our latest offering to beach enthusiasts who want to stay in a Boracay hotel that's built a reputation for top-notch accommodations and exceptional service," Vice President for Marketing Karl Chusuey said in a statement. Henann Group of Resorts is under the leadership of his father Dr. Henry Chusuey, who manages the hospitality brand with his two sons, Group President Alfonso and VP for Marketing Karl.

Rates depend on the season (dry season usually has peak rates), the day of your stay (weekdays have the best prices), and how near or how far it is from your stay date. But, if you book at just the right moment, the "Best Available Rate" may go as low as P5,272 (inclusive of government tax, no service charge). This already includes a buffet breakfast for two.

What to Do

While Henann Park Resort is found along the main road and without a view of the beach, it promises a no-fuss stay in an oasis with a sprawling pool at its center. Pathways cutting through the pools allow the area to be less crowded even on fully booked weekends. On one side you have a lengthy lap pool; on the other, you have three corner pools with smaller plunge pools. The pool is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

If you want to head to the beach (you're in Boracay, after all), you can walk along the main road to D'Mall. This takes only about three or four minutes, which is a welcome exercise to get your steps in. There's also a shortcut to the beach right beside the hotel, but it's not for the faint of heart as the walkway can be dark and narrow for a good 30 seconds toward the end.

For the gym buffs, Henann Park Resort has a fitness center with basic gym equipment. It is open from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Gym fee is P300 per person for two-hour use.

You also have the option of getting a whole-body massage by the pool for P400 or a foot-and-leg massage for P700. Rates are higher if you wish to do it in your room.

Where to Eat

The hotel's Orchard Cafe features indoor seating, usually for the breakfast buffet and dinner buffet; and outdoor seating with a view of the pool.

It boasts Filipino favorites that are great for sharing, such as sinigang, kare-kare, and lechon kawali; as well as Southeast Asian fare like Pork Nasi Goreng (P530), Malaysian Beef Rendang (P615), Singaporean Chili Prawn (P735), and Thai Steamed Fish Fillet (P560). Expect the Asian dishes to be spicy—or even spicier if you want them to be.

The advantage of having a group of resorts on one island is that you can go buffet hopping. The Sea Breeze Cafe at Henann Regency Resort and Spa, for example, is regarded as the best buffet in Boracay. Lunch buffet is available for as low as P699. You can also head to Henann Crystal Sands Resort's Sapphire for a seafood lunch buffet (P799), Henann Palm Beach Resort's Palm Tree for barbecue nights (P849), or Henann Garden Resort's Garden Cafe for a dinner buffet (P649).
