Retro-Cool Style for a One-Bedroom Condo in Quezon City
Interior designers Wilmer Lopez and Kimi Manuel filled this bachelor pad with unique furniture pieces
These days, many bachelor pads are usually defined by neutral color schemes and basic furniture. It seems that male homeowners often prefer earth tones like brown, green, or blue. When it comes to furnishing, most would prefer to stick to the bare essentials. Interior designers Wilmer Lopez and Kimi Manuel chose a slightly different route for this one-bedroom condo in Quezon City. The team purposely picked items with unusual colors, shapes, and patterns. They also decorated the space with statement pieces like an orange deer head, a Papa Bear chair, and a white ladder used as a rack.
Upon entering the unit, guests are greeted by the well-furnished dining area. A glass-top dining table is paired with Windsor chairs and red stools. Using different seats can make a dining space more interesting.
In the living area, a Marilyn Monroe print hangs over a fully-upholstered, three-seater sofa. This black sofa is unique because of its white buttons and piping. It is topped with a single Union Jack pillow.
The wall beside the sofa is adorned with a collection of graphic, retro-style posters.
Instead of a coffee table, interior designer Wilmer Lopez chose a pair of stools in black and green on a black-and-white area rug from Decoliving Manila. Flush against the wall is a console table that looks like a vintage-style file cabinet.
A wall-mounted deer head serves as a quirky touch.
A Papa Bear chair by designer Hans Wegner with houndstooth print is topped with a black-and-white pillow and a bright red cushion. It is placed next to a classic studio floor lamp and a white ladder used as a rack for hats and jackets.
For the bedroom, interior designer Kimi Manuel chose practical furniture and trendy accessories. She paired dark pieces with touches of bright color for an unexpected look.
The bed has hidden drawers that can be used to store extra pillows, bed sheets, and other personal belongings. To add more color to the space, Kimi chose colorful art and pillows with different patterns.
The tall shelf beside the bed is filled with books, candles, and faux plants.
