Mid-century Modern design is a style from the 1940s to the 1960s defined by its clean and simple look. In this 84sqm condo, these retro elements create a calm, relaxed vibe perfect for any modern home.

Interior designer Wilmer Lopez of WLopez Designs filled the rooms with bare concrete, bleached wood and vintage furniture. The two-bedroom unit also has an open ceiling with exposed wires and plumbing to make the area look spacious. An open layout with almost no walls makes the home even more bright and airy.

LIVING AREA

The living area is defined by its pinewood beam and raw concrete walls. A slatted wooden divider that slides along an industrial-type metal track conceals the aircon. A fully-upholstered sofa is paired with a tufted daybed and a white armchair topped with a Choc Nut Pillow.

CHOC NUT PILLOW

The Choc Nut Pillow is a customized piece by Space Encounters, a furniture store in Ortigas. Call (02) 910 8031 for more information.

DINING AREA

In the dining area, a pinewood table with wheels can be used as a small table for four or a buffet table for eight.

PENDANT LAMPS

A pair of lamps hang over a clear glass jar filled with Choc Nut.

BLACK SHELVES

The homeowner's favorite things are displayed on wall-mounted shelves.

SKULL LAMP

A skull lamp glows in one corner of the home.

These paperweights and calling card holders are actually called katam. Katam is traditionally used to smoothen out wood.

DIY CONSOLE TABLE

Create your own console table by placing a wooden slab on two metal Tolix stools. Original Tolix stools can be found at Dwell, SM Megamall.

VINTAGE BIKE

On weekends, the homeowner uses her vintage red bike.

ROTARY PHONE

An old-fashioned rotary phone rests on a black metal stool.

PINEWOOD HALL

In the hallway, light-colored pinewood is used for a warm, comforting touch.

GUEST ROOM

A light, fresh color palette with shades of blue and yellow can be seen in the guest bedroom. To match the rest of the home, tongue-and-groove pinewood cladding is used for the ceiling.

GUEST ROOM CORNER

A 1950s lamp and a Mid-Century Modern chair can be found on one side of the room.

DAINTY DETAILS

A few charming touches add character to the guest room.

MASTER BEDROOM

The master bedroom has a classic retro feel highlighted by a vintage calendar print and an iconic Andy Warhol’s iconic Campbell’s Tomato Soup print. A Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup pillow livens up the space.

MASTER BEDROOM DETAIL

A side table with geometric patterns and an orange tufted stool complete the space.

MASTER BATHROOM

Wood tiles, wood shelves, spa-inspired lighting and a refreshing aqua hue create a resort-like feel in the bathroom.
