Ginger's Three-Storey House with a Modern Tropical Style
Interior designer Kristine Neri-Magturo builds a dream home for a husband, wife, and their three children
Type of Home: Three-Storey House with Six Bedrooms
Style of Home: Modern Tropical
A house is more than just a place for eating, sleeping, and seeking shelter. It is also meant to be a haven that brings loved ones closer together today and for the rest of their lives.
For example, this three-storey home designed by interior designer Kristine Neri-Magturo is the perfect place for a big clan. Aside from providing a sanctuary for homeowner Ginger, her husband, and their three children, it also has more than enough room for Ginger's grandmother and young granddaughter. It is also ideal for hosting parties, reunions, and even occasional study sessions.
More importantly, since there are six bedrooms, Ginger's children can still stay here even when they already have their own families.

The living area is furnished with a sectional sofa, a pair of armchairs, and a tufted ottoman upholstered with a royal blue fabric.
Although the homeowner initially wanted a crystal chandelier, the interior designer thought that it would not fit the theme of this modern tropical house. With this in mind, she chose lighting fixtures with cascading candleholders.
One wall of the living area is adorned with a commissioned artwork that seems to depict buildings — a nod to the family business. The piece is also painted using the family's favorite colors.
The entrance to the family home is furnished with a Salvador console table from Urban Abode. This table is a great choice because it is stylish and functional — it even has eight drawers for keys and other essentials!
The most impressive piece in the dining area is the wall aquarium from ADA Nature Aquarium Philippines! It easily brightens up the space and fills it with a sense of bliss.
The area is completed with a wooden dining table and customized fully upholstered chairs.
In the kitchen, ingredients and dinnerware can be kept in overhead cabinets with frosted glass doors. Beneath the cabinets is a coffee maker and cereal dispensers.
Facing this wall is a kitchen island that serves as the best spot for enjoying breakfast or merienda.
Kristine designed an accent wall with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and a pair of built-in seats! There are also chalkboard surfaces with inspiring quotes by the children's favorite authors.
The library also has a 1970s-style sunken seating area that appears cozy and comfortable. We can imagine the kids curled up in this space with their new books and magazines.
The modern tropical staircase is a breathtaking sight. It seems like something straight out of the set of a Hollywood movie or a luxurious resort on an exotic island.
This receiving lounge on the second floor serves as another area for entertaining guests. Since the space has a more relaxed feel compared to the formal living area, the family can spend more time together here.
The homeowner wanted a special corner in the master bedroom where she could put her feet up and catch up on her reading.
A checkered accent wall is an unexpected addition to the boys' bedroom! It looks different from most of the walls that we have seen in family homes.
Some of the squares are actually cabinets! We love the secret storage options that can be used for keeping the son's precious belongings.
