Beauty queen-turned-actress Dindi Gallardo has been a resident of New York with her husband, Eric Scot Mills, for more than a decade. Their compact home is both cozy and easy on the eyes, which can be attributed to the couple’s penchant for restoring pieces and scouring finds in flea markets. Dindi doesn’t mind the small space, finding it impractical to rent a bigger apartment as she travels a lot. “Plus, I think, in New York, most of the time you’re not hanging out in your apartment. You walk out of your apartment and everything’s there. It’s rare that people just stay indoors always,” she shares.

This mindset shows in how Dindi and Eric made the most of their home. They styled their sweet spot in NYC with designer pieces and restored items that surprisingly go well together, resulting in a space that is comfortable, vibrant, and truly theirs.

Living Area

Three different seating types adorn the living room: a white sofa, a printed accent chair, and an Eiffel Schell chair by Charles Eames.

Patterns are everywhere in the living area, but the look doesn’t come across as jarring through the choice of color, background, and placement.

In one corner of Dindi’s apartment is yet another modern piece—a white Hardoy Butterfly chair. On the wall is a frame featuring public bus signs, which were patterned after an old bus scroll.

Decor Pieces

The decorations handpicked by the couple make this corner stand out. Eric owns the two guitars while Dindi bought the wall clock online. The pile of books lends a quirky feel to the space.

Dining Area

With select pieces occupying this space, the minimalist approach to the dining area exudes a coordinated and classy feel, even with the addition of colorful accessories.

Dindi manages to score good deals for her stylish picks. The table lamp and steel cabinet are both from Swedish furniture brand IKEA. Meanwhile, the feathery hat on the wall came from her husband's friend who's into African art.
