A Sleek and Modern Personal Space for a Passionate Yuppie
An outdoorsy, young professional retreats to her 42sqm unit to find her ultimate “escape”
For busy professionals, home is the only place that offers a satisfying retreat after a long, hard day at work. For marketing manager Mye this wasn’t always the case while renting a bland pad for five years. Unsatisfied with her home, Mye immediately sought to renovate her place after finally buying it for herself. With the help of interior designer Vivian Gacad, Mye was able to get the escape she finally wanted.
Given the 42sqm space, Vivian came up with a design that was modern, stylish but also very functional. With plenty of hidden storage compartments and a well-thought-out design, Mye can come home to a practical but fashionable home with all her needs and wants. Not to mention, the space is comfortable and safe for her three furry companions, Sergeant, Pepper, and Sassy. Before the renovation, Mye wished to have a hotel escape to come home to. Now, she has exactly that: a home with a modern, boutique hotel charm with all her personal touches and quirks.

Bright lighting and a lively backsplash make the kitchen cozy and warm despite the lack of natural lighting.
Mye’s washing machine and dryer are kept out of sight behind this cabinet in the kitchen area.
Mye’s kitchen doubles as her work area. This unique pull-up door conceals her microwave, fax machine, and telephone.
Features like the black-and-white ceiling lamp break the monotony of white around the areas.
Mye’s personality shines through her home with personal touches like this wakeboard that hangs from her ceiling.
Soft, comfy white bedding offers a restful spot for Mye to retreat to when needing some peaceful down time.
The lime green and white color choice for the bedroom is a playful but calming combination.
An abundance of compartments and storage keeps Mye’s personal belongings away from the reach of her dogs.
To make the space more personal, Vivian displayed Mye’s quirky trinkets like these souvenirs from Hawaii where her parents reside.
More storage areas and a couple of Mye's belongings line the hallway from the front door all the way to the bedroom.
The bathroom was kept clean and simple, similar to what you normally find in a modern hotel bathroom. The wooden backsplash adds a natural touch giving a spa feel to the space.
