A Renovated Townhouse with Custom-Made Furniture

A four-storey townhouse finds space solutions in tailor-made pieces

Located in a charming neighborhood, the Avelino home is a four-storey townhouse that belongs to a family with two growing boys and a Labrador who all equally need enough space to move around in with ease. The Avelino family found the perfect solution to this dilemma when they discovered the magic of customized furniture.

The couple decided to have most of their furniture pieces designed and custom-made at Progetti. This way, each piece of furniture was the perfect size and configuration for each room in their home, maximizing the space and avoiding a cramped feeling. A bonus would be the additional storage space they can incorporate into each piece of furniture they had made. But more importantly, the cost of having Progetti make most of their home pieces became a sound investment because they bought in bulk and had most of the pieces refurbished into the finish they want rather than have them made from scratch.

To brighten up the predominantly wood theme, the couple turned to colorful and textured pillows, interesting vases, and the family’s personal collections complemented by finds from Dapitan, Regalong Pambahay, 168 in Divisoria, and MC Home Depot – all within a budget range that wouldn’t break the bank. With specialized furniture made for the family’s needs, along with bursts of color that add a youthful vibrance, the Avelino home’s renovation is a warm and cozy home that is perfect for a starter townhouse.

Living Area

The Avelino home is welcoming and cozy with its inviting bright lemon yellow sectional sofa perfect for a growing family. Most of the furniture in their home was made by Progetti.

An Arco lamp adds an edgy touch to the contemporary motif, while the bright red Ivan Acuna painting brings a bold new life to the room. The glass topped coffee table at the center was customized by Progetti, to which the couple had pullout drawers added for additional storage.

Pillows are great ideas to soften the look and add warmth to a room. Your best bets for affordable home accents are Our Home and 168 in Divisoria.

Extra Storage

Vases and baskets add visual interest and more storage. Emily recommends Dapitan for ceramics and Regalong Pambahay for other décor. The accent pieces in red were inspired by the Ivan Acuna painting in the room.

Dining Area

Aside for its aesthetics, the dining room chairs were custom-made by Progetti because the floor of the dining room was uneven.

A wooden framed mirror also from Progetti gives the illusion of bigger space, while a spherical pendant lamp brings a more modern feel to the room.

An extra console was added beside the dining area. It can be used to hold fruits, wine, and other dishes to be served.

Pocket Garden

The townhouse had an ugly problem in the middle of it – air wells. Instead of fretting over this structural challenge, the Avelinos opted to turn the space into a pocket garden so they can also bring the outdoors in.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom predominantly uses wood and steel, but the slate gray walls soften the look, while colorful bedsheets in green and yellow brighten up the room.

The wooden bed came from a friend who used to own a furniture store and was refurbished by Progetti.

Kids' Room

Bright blue walls with a specially-designed bunk bed is any boy’s dream room. The bunk bed – whose design was found by the couple from the Internet – was made by Progetti is perfect for sleepovers and can be reworked into two beds when the boys get older. Cabinets and shelves were stained to match the bed.

Den

A flatscreen TV and gadgets fill up this room, seemingly the boys’ haven, but also surprisingly Emily’s favorite space. Blue’s collection of balls is displayed proudly here.

Complementing the ball collection are the pendant lamps, bought from MC Home Depot.

The unique chess set adds character to the space --- giving it an Oriental vintage vibe.
