A Needed Renovation Helps Maximize a Roomy Condominium

With a bit of thoughtful planning, not one inch of this spacious condominium was left to waste

More commonly, small spaces are deemed challenging to design but it also goes the same for large ones. While it allows more freedom for extensive design, furniture variety, and décor experimentation, the large floor area and space—if not maximized—can present empty and neglected areas. This was the problem for homeowner Marcie and her high-rise condominium—much of the space was going to waste because they weren’t being “lived in.”

After some planning with designer Grace Reyes, who did Marcie’s original interiors, the condominium was renovated to utilize every square inch of the large space. After shifting a few key areas in the floor plan, not only was Marcie able to maximize the space but she was able to create areas to make home life more comfortable for every member of her household, including her staff. To make sure all rooms in the house were visited and used, instead of putting up concrete walls, she made use of glass ones to make each one inviting. After adding the last personal touches to every space, like color and décor, Marcie is satisfied that her investment was not going to waste.

Hallway Marcie utilized her hallway to house a number of her beloved family photos. She made use of shelving to allow easy and immediate changes when she felt like it.
Living Area Large-scale furniture was brought in to fit into the big space provided for the living and dining areas. A textured rug helped in filling any empty space and segregated the living area from the dining space.
Art Detail During her trips abroad, Marcie would buy paintings off the street and would frame them for display at home.
Kitchen Marcie had her kitchen moved from its original location to the space where the living and dining rooms used to be. The kitchen filled the large area nicely and left no space untouched.
Kitchen Detail A small sitting area was placed in the kitchen for guests wanting to take a peek at the cook. This also gives the cook a place to sit closely by while waiting for the dishes to finish cooking.
Dining Area Marcie requested to have the dining table sized down from a ten-seater to an eight. That way, Marcie and her kids can feel comfortable using the dining area for their meals.
Play Room Marcie utilized the space by adding more rooms her family members would benefit from. Her kids now have their own play room where they’re free to do whatever they want. Plus, the former kitchen area was turned into a service room for her staff.
Bathroom Seeing no problem to be fixed, the bathroom was untouched.
