Most people invest in real estate spaces like condo units because they are conveniently located in the middle of everything. Newlyweds Ronnie and Janice Lim chose a mid-rise property close to Ronnie’s office that would allow him to spend less time on the road and more time with his wife in the comforts of their own home.

Interior design consultant Elle Uy helped the couple make the most of their 25sqm studio with creative space-maximizing ideas. Her custom-made choices include a shoe cabinet that serves as a foyer, a bar with a hidden extension that can be pulled out to create a dining set-up, and a cabinet that separates the bedroom from the living area. A light blue, yellow, and green color scheme brightens up the condo.

FOYER

Upon entering the area, Ronnie, Janice, and guests can leave their footwear in the shoe cabinet by the front door. In a small space such as this one, shoes must be kept hidden for a clean, organized, and spacious look.

LIVING AREA

In the living area, an accent wall covered in a classic damask pattern is adorned with a flat-screen television and a floating white cabinet. Beside the TV is a light blue fully-upholstered bench set against a floor-to-ceiling mirror on the wall.

LIVING AREA CORNER

The living area is filled with soft and sweet pastel shades that create a warm, relaxing feel. These sweet colors can also be seen on the three bathmats sewn together to create a unique area rug.

PHOTO WALL

For the adjacent photo wall, Elle used frames with different shapes, sizes, and colors. She even spray painted some of the frames pink. Aside from the couple's favorite pictures, Elle displayed the numbers "1 8 11" in honor of the couple's wedding anniversary.

SUNBURST CLOCK

The sunburst wall clock hanging above the flat-screen TV is a decorative and functional addition.

BEDROOM

Instead of creating a bedroom enclosed with walls, Elle transformed a corner into a sleeping area furnished with a customized platform bed with built-in drawers. Since there would not be enough space for a bedside table, the bed is framed with a wooden ledge that can hold the couple's cellphones, books, and bedtime essentials.

BEDROOM DETAIL

Because of the height of their bed, the couple can watch shows and movies on the TV in the living area from the comfort of their own bed. Their bed is made even cozier with pillows with gingham, geometric, snowflake, and floral prints.

DINING AREA

The bar counter can be used as a space for cooking preparations, a delicious meal or after-dinner cocktails by simply pulling out the hidden extension. It is surrounded with bar stools upholstered in yellow with a nailhead trim. The couple also has extra blue slipcovers to instantly change the look of these seating options.

KITCHEN

The kitchen of the 25sqm space used to be gray but it now has yellow walls and light blue tiles to match the color palette of the rest of the home.

KITCHEN

In the kitchen, the open overhead cabinets are filled with books and accessories to add more character to the limited area.
