When you have concrete plans and ideas in mind, everything else comes easy. This is exactly how it turned out for this couple-slash-homeowners of this 34sqm condo unit located in Makati. Before they got married, they decided to invest in the unit which happens to have a stunning view of the Manila Bay sunset. Their wedding, a yellow-and-gray-affair, became the inspiration for the unit’s color scheme.

Interior designer Van Acuña-Solaña came into the picture to help the couple make the most of their compact home. Aside from including the couple’s preferences, she had additional storage options installed and made sure to install pieces that are purposeful and space-saving as well. She also included travel-inspired details and suggested more affordable design elements and pieces to the couple.

If there’s one important thing that the man of the house learned, it’s to spend wisely. “You want to make sure that you will enjoy the place. Siyempre sometimes we would ask Van kung wala na bang mas mura. Pero kung ano talaga yung gusto mo, you should go for it.” And wouldn’t it be nice to come home to a space that you know you wholeheartedly love?

Living Area

This home is all about yellow and gray elements. Yellow lamps hang from the white brick wall, while a comfy neutral couch with yellow pillows serve as the ideal spot for relaxing and unwinding.

Living Area

To save on space, the ledge serves the function of side tables. The ottoman-cum-coffee table matches the chairs in the dining area.

Working Space

The designer converted a spot for both husband and wife. He has an area where he can prepare his lectures, while the woman of the house has her own vanity table. A chevron wallpaper lends a quirky vibe to the space.

Dining Area

A resized IKEA table is the star of the dining area and is flanked by khaki upholstered chairs from Wilcon Depot. At night, the hanging cage lights from Keystone Lamps and Shades illuminate the area. Beside the dining area is an L-shaped kitchen.

Master Bedroom

Plenty of patterns find a home in the master bedroom. For privacy, sliding panels were installed to delineate the room from the rest of the unit. Minimal accessories were placed in this spot, making the area conducive for sweet slumber.

This mounted photo serves as a reminder of the couple’s romantic proposal by the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
