A Chic and Modern Country Style Apartment
The sunny ambiance of a rural abode is replicated in this modern country style home in Manila
With her main house in the province, this homeowner wanted her Manila apartment to have the same airy ambiance of a rural home. So when she commissioned interior designer Macie Lorenzo, she decided she wanted to have a modern, country style home filled predominantly with white to create open, sunny spaces.
The homeowner and her daughter stay in the apartment only on weekends—bonding in the kitchen creating home cooked meals. So the 144sqm space was fitted with only two bedrooms to make space for a bigger kitchen. A charming breakfast nook completes the kitchen space—separated from the entire home by glass sliding doors that still allow plenty of the natural light to stream into the rooms. Chic white furniture paired with white washed, weathered wood created that country feel. Small doses of patterns and colors (mostly in blue) were added to make the space more cheery—completing the entire look. Despite being in the city, the homeowner is happy to have a beautiful space with all the charms of the country.

The entryway is bathed in blue—the favorite color of the homeowner and her daughter—to let it stand out from the rest of the space. Framed photos adorn the walls to make it an interesting focal point.
Although filled predominantly with white pieces, Macie played around with different styles and textures to make the space more interesting. A sleek, modern coffee table is paired with a simple, cozy couch and chic, built-in shelving.
The sofa, streamlined coffee table, accent chairs, and ottomans are all custom-made pieces to allow a comfortable but spacious living area. A purple side table adds a funky pop of color to the space.
Open windows and French sliding doors bathe the entire space with natural light.
The homeowner also wanted the home to be functional. More seating is added in this recessed space that was fitted with a daybed. Beneath its cushions are hidden storage spaces for keeping clutter at bay.
The country theme is most dominant in the dining area with the weathered-finish dining table. Matching chairs and rustic overhead lighting complete the look while a two-seater couch adds that modern feel.
Banquet seating paired with wooden, country style chairs and round table complete this charming breakfast nook.
Unique shelving and subtle wallpaper add depth to the predominantly white room.
Macie maximized the space in the bedroom by doing away with closet doors. The walk-in closet is completely open to the entire bedroom while sliding doors were used in the bathroom instead of regular ones.
