This Event Stylist Turned Artist Built Her Dream Home With Her Artwork Earnings

Step inside the lovely home of an artist and a photographer and be inspired with its modern details.

If you peek inside the home of Sarah Del Rosario, you might think she’s been painting all her life. Her beautiful artworks adorn rooms and the house exudes an innate creativity. But actually, her passion for painting only started during the pandemic.

“Nung nagkaroon ng pandemic, I used to be an events stylist and then nag-start ako na mag-paint,” Sarah tells the OG team. “And I tried out na ibenta siya ng mga worth P500, P1,500, ganyan.”

As it turns out, Sarah actually had a knack for painting and soon caught the eye of many art enthusiasts. Today, her house stands as a result of her earnings.

Sarah’s old house still stands today, behind their new house. When she was starting out painting, she says she “destroyed” the house so she thought of having a new home constructed. Currently, it serves as Sarah’s work studio where she hangs her in-progress artworks and flowers arranged for delivery.

“Ngayon, work area na siya atsaka ‘pag nagpe-painting ako ng mga sobrang messy and gumagawa ng mga flowers, dito ‘ko gumagawa.”

The Del Rosario’s new main house features a classical tropical design, with a lot of big windows for natural light to stream through.

Stepping inside is a living room where Sarah showcases her finished paintings. The dining area, meanwhile, features a gray color palette.

“Kahit na color white yung favorite color ko, ginawa ko siyang color gray kasi nga baka mamaya makapagdala ‘ko ng pintura dito, madumihan pa yung chair,” Sarah points out.

There’s also a kitchen which their family rarely uses for cooking as an exhaust fan has yet to be installed. Thankfully, there’s a dirty kitchen outside for their cooking needs.

A photo wall serves as a display area for the work of her husband, a photographer.

“Nung sinabit yung mga picture namin dito sa area na ‘to, do’n ko pa lang naramdaman, ‘A, sa amin nga yung bahay na ‘to,’” Sarah shares.

On the second floor are the family area, three bedrooms, and a bathroom.

The first room is the guest room, which features a yellow hue and a Scandinavian theme. The second room is her son Blake’s room.

“Kaya gray itong room na ‘to kasi gusto na ni Blake yung manly na color kasi may binata na ‘ko,” Sarah says.

The last room is the master’s bedroom, which is filled with interesting decorative items. Most noticeable is a portrait Sarah did of herself and her husband.

The room leads out to a balcony which offers a refreshing view of the surrounding greenery.

“Go to a community na paglabas mo ng bahay or pagsilip mo ng labas, may libre ka nang view,” Sarah advises homeowners. “Vitamin D is very important para sa may mga depression. I have depression kasi so the sunlight really helps.”

Lasty is the bathroom, which Sarah says is one of the most relaxing places in the house. There’s a bathtub, a walk-in closet, sink with vanity mirror, and a glass window perfect for cloud watching.

All in all, the Del Rosario’s lot area measures 1,000 square meters, which Sarah says they purchased for less than P100,000. The floor area, meanwhile, measures 240 square meters.

“Yung mga ginamit ditong materials is concrete. Yung wood, hindi kasi kami pe-puwede na gumamit ng sobrang daming wood dito e, kasi since bukid siya, maraming mga Mother anay.”
