This Couple’s American-Inspired Farmhouse Has Spacious Outdoors And Stunning Views
Charming, minimalist interiors and family-friendly outdoor spaces take centerstage in this American-style abode.
Growing up, MaShie Pacula had always dreamt of seeing her future kids running around a big garden. Little did she know that her dream would come true after marrying and having two children.
During the pandemic, when MaShie noticed that a lot of her friends were becoming plantitos and plantitas, she yearned to be able to do farming and gardening herself.
“‘Puwede kaya na makapag-acquire tayo ng small property or lot wherein we can do the farming, maybe we can have our small kubo or wherein we can spend our weekends with our family?’” she asked her husband, John.
The American farmhouse dream
Before tying the knot, MaShie and John loved to travel around the world, visiting locations like Japan and Europe. But one of their biggest dreams had been to experience living in America.
“Yung ma-experience kung ano kayang pakiramdam ng you are staying in an American farmhouse,” MaShie tells the OG team.
MaShie and John’s home measures 400 square meters and sits on a 1,200 square meter farm lot in Nasugbu, Batangas. Its materials include mostly concrete for sturdiness and its furniture are mostly made of solid wood such as yakal and dungon.
Outside, it’s the spitting image of a typical American farmhouse, with a spacious porch up front. Black and white machuca floor tiles add contrast to the white walls and massive solid wood French doors, while potted plants add a touch of freshness.
In this area, the Paculas enjoy playing board games and having coffee or merienda. It also provides the perfect vantage point for MaShie to watch her kids having fun in the playhouse in the garden. The garden also serves as a tent pitching area, complete with a firepit for chilly evenings.
Minimalist vibe
Stepping inside the farmhouse, one is greeted by an indoor kitchen with a minimalist vibe, sporting black and white hues. A bar counter makes the perfect setting for evening and morning chitchats. In the living room is a customized center table and a breakfast nook. Heavy cooking is done in an outdoor kitchen and a long table sits in a breezy lanai area.
The farmhouse has three rooms. The master’s bedroom has a queen-sized bed, a working area, an open cabinet, and French windows that provide a scenic view of the Nasugbu skyline.
“This [bed] meron siyang pull-out,” MaShie describes. “This bedroom alone can accommodate up to five pax.”
The bathroom continues the minimalist black and white theme of the interiors, with black and gold accents.
The second and third bedrooms feature a similar layout, also with a canopied queen-size bed with pullout bed, each able to accommodate five people.
Outside, meanwhile, is MaShie’s favorite area in the home, a 7x3 built-in pool where their family enjoys stunning views of the sunset.
Offering the American farmhouse experience
All in all, they spent eight to nine million for the whole property. Currently, MaShie and John are offering their home to interested guests who would like to experience living in an American farmhouse. The rental, which they’ve named Gracia Viviente, can accommodate a total of 16 people. You can find it on Facebook or Instagram.
“For the weekdays, it’s P18,000 for our introductory price,” MaShie says. “Weekend is P20,000 and P25,000 for holidays.”
