For Jeff Crisostomo, the perfect peg for his dream home is his favorite bar!

While many would get their work done in coffee shops, Jeff, who works as a government communications officer, would write speeches and press releases on a counter with a beer in hand. For the homeowner, a bar isn't merely a place to hangout—it's also his creative space.

"Pag pumupunta ako sa bar, may laptop ako tapos I would order beer and konting dinner tapos doon na mag fo-flow 'yung creative juices ko," he shares with Real Living. "Nakakapag work ako ng maayos."

Jeff used to frequent to a watering hole called Seventy 7 in Kamuning, Quezon City. "After ng congress sessions, usually inaabot na kami ng mga 6 p.m. or 7 p.m., didiretso ako kaagad doon sa bar if I needed to write a speech, house bill, or press release."

Unfortunately, Seventy 7 permanently shuttered in 2019. He also had to move from Quezon City to Dinagat Islands for work, where he's living on his own for the first time.

When he finally found his own space, Jeff thought of recreating the feel of his go-to nightspot in Manila "para medyo mabuhayan ako doon sa pag tatrabaho—lalo na dahil nakaka-homesick," he says. "Matagal na din ako 'di nakaka-uwi."

With its red-orange walls, black ceiling, and industrial-style fixtures, Jeff's space is truly reminiscent cozy, well-loved, and much-visited watering hole—and for the homeowner, this KakaiBahay feels like home.

KakaiBahay is Real Living’s newest web mini-series that features unique homes with unique stories. From urban mansions to seaside cottages, we will walk beyond the threshold of aesthetics into the personal histories of those who live in them. Each week, we will have homeowners take us through their spaces, going down memory lane as we highlight favorite corners, interesting furniture, and sentimental pieces that culminate into a biography of building, adapting, and settling in.
