This couple’s open-layout, industrial-style home is a prime example of how a variety of materials and ideas can work to come up with a dwelling that’s different yet laid-back and textural yet feminine.

All these and more were achieved with the help of interior designer Jiselle Yu, who happens to be no stranger to the concept. In fact, she just came from a trip to New York when she started working on this project. Set against mostly white walls and cement finish for the floors, the bricks, leather, wood, and metal elements cohesively come together for a masculine design that appeals to the owners. With seventy percent of the furniture custom-made by Direction, a furniture company, they were able to maximize every nook and cranny and achieve the exact look they wanted for several parts of this industrial haven.

The second level of the home is where the living and dining areas are, plus the kitchen, the area that was tweaked the most. Since the man of the house loves to cook, modifications were made to create one big area and to cater to how he cooks—from where the spices are placed, down to the kitchen appliances he needs.

On the third floor is the master bedroom, where a wall was put up to create space for a walk-in closet. The fourth level houses the guest bedroom, which mirrors the gender-neutral spaces of the house and the style sensibilities of the master bedroom. Plus, there’s a gym for the lady of the house, too. It's definitely a place the couple would want to come home to every single day.
