Pops of Color Give This Scandi-Inspired Condo a Cheerful Twist
Once a bare condo, the two-bedroom space now features touches of white, wood, black, and blue
After seeing one of interior designer Catherine Cena Yambao’s previous projects online, the owners of this two-bedroom condo unit knew they found the design professional they want to work with.
In turning the bare space into a home, they wanted something bright and easy on the eyes but with pops of color. “The home is done in all white, gray, and light wood, with pops of blue and black. The style is almost Scandi but not quite since we put in pops of color and some farmhouse elements as well. The style is ‘Scandi with a twist,’” explains Cathy.

A Two-Bedroom Scandi-Inspired Condo Unit with Pops of Color
Living and Dining Areas
One of the unit’s interesting features is the aquarium spotted near the dining area. According to Cathy, they built the condo around it, with the final color scheme highlighting aquarium-inspired shades.
Living Area
The living area is furnished with a two-seater sofa, a flip-top coffee table, a rug, and a TV. Cathy shares that the client placed a TV that can double as an art piece when not in use.
The walls feature a white-paneled accent wall below a light blue one. “Above this is cove lighting that runs from the living area to the dining area that lends a soft, cozy feel to the space,” explains the designer.
According to Cathy, the AC unit and the pipes used to be exposed that’s why they had to conceal these within a false beam. Wood slates allow air from the AC unit to flow through the space.

Dining Area
A compact six-seater dining table with a glass top and a wood base occupies the dining area together with matching soft gray upholstered chairs with a black wood frame.
As if encasing the aquarium, the huge cabinet is one of the first things you’ll notice in the dining area. “This is the inspiration in the whole common area so it sits in a prominent position,” Cathy adds.
Kitchen
Cathy says that the kitchen in this unit is quite big for a condo unit. She was able to add a floor-to-ceiling pull-out pantry beside the refrigerator. “This is my favorite feature of the kitchen because it’s so functional,” she says.
Blue tiles serve as the backsplash in the cooking area, brightening up the neutral space.
The original cabinets that came with the unit were retained but the laminates were replaced with a light-colored ones to match the overall look. Cathy made sure to add more drawers as well to give the owners more storage.

Bedroom
You won’t even notice that the master bedroom is compact because of the colors used in the space and the extra storage incorporated. An overhead cabinet can be seen above the headboard in white and light wood shade. To avoid monotony, the headboard is blush-gray.
At the foot of the bed is a narrow cabinet where essentials can be kept. There’s also a reeded accent wall to keep the bedroom from looking too plain.
Bathroom
According to Cathy, the bathroom was small, with a narrow space for the counter. She had to find a way to make a bathroom sink that wouldn’t look or feel awkward to use. “We did this by putting in an integrated sink where the sink is in the same material as the entire countertop,” explains the designer.
Meanwhile, black and gray tiles spruce up half of the wall in the toilet and countertop areas.

The framed mirror, lighting pieces, and matte black fixtures double as décor pieces that also help add a luxe feel to the T&B.
