The past two years have been memorable for the owners of this homey and peg-worthy condo unit. Not only did they get married in 2016, they also welcomed their firstborn. By 2017, they were ready to mark another milestone by creating a home for their small family. Acquiring a 60sqm corner unit in a development strategically located between Makati and BGC was a smart move as it’s close to prime establishments and accessible, too. As a creative director, the lady of the house already had a vision for the three-bedroom unit. She collated pegs from Pinterest and Instagram, with most of the photos leaning towards a Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic. Fortunately, the couple didn’t have to look far and wide for design professionals who can help them turn their vision into an actual home. Through Ultimate Frisbee, they got acquainted with Miah Gomez and Chino Carlos of C+G Interior Design, and since they liked how the designers worked on a friend’s house, they decided to enlist their help in turning their space into an ideal haven for the family.

The owners prepared a Powerpoint presentation detailing what they want to do in each area, the furniture pieces they wish to add, and the plan of knocking down a wall to maximize the space. Chino and Miah took it from there and reworked the unit’s layout. While the owners liked it, the original budget became a primary concern. They had to work backwards and set some priorities to achieve a workable budget. "We made a list of which items we were willing to spend on, and the costs we can cut down on. Ano yung mga puwedeng i-let go or ‘di masyado gawin? If we hadn’t done this, hindi mabubuo yung bahay,” shares the owner. The designers also served as editors—with the owners showing photos of pieces they sourced and wanted to add to the home. In finalizing the pieces, Chino worked with color as a major deciding factor as they were set on working with green tones to keep the look fresh and youthful. The end result proves that by being resourceful and constantly communicating with your designer, you can achieve the home you’ve always wanted.
