Neutral Colors Make This 50sqm Condo Unit Extra Homey
Taking inspiration from an accent wall, interior designers Honey Mutia Cervantes and Rosa Manduriao were able to achieve a modern yet comfy look for a one-bedroom vacation home in the city

Many prefer the modern aesthetic because of the elegance it can add to a space. While this style can give any home a chic upgrade, the challenge lies in how to make it cozy, inviting, and not too formal. In designing this 50sqm, one-bedroom condo unit, interior designers Honey Mutia Cervantes and Rosa Manduriao of Desaurum Co. Interior Design Studio proved that the modern or contemporary look can be comfortable and livable. “Our client found a photo online of what she wanted [to achieve] for her home. It was an accent wall with a diagonal recessed lighting that has a very modern feel. When she saw our work or a dental clinic with a similar design theme, she contacted the doctor to get to us. From one photo, we conceptualized an ultra-modern interior,” shares Honey.
Since the owner of the unit is based in Australia, coordination and approval of materials were done online. Honey and Rosa sourced for the right materials and pieces to create a comfy, modern look. It also helped that the owner wanted to turn the original two-bedroom unit into a one-bedroom home. “The decision to turn the other bedroom into a living room with a sofa bed opened up the space and highlighted the beautiful view of the sky and the pool area below,” adds Honey. The designers also chose a relaxing color palette that’s easy on the eyes. A mix of whites, grays, and browns makes the unit dreamy and ideal for a long, well-deserved vacation.
