Luxurious Finishes Complete This Three-Bedroom Condo Unit
Interior designer Claudine Medina delivered a modern luxe home by working with neutral colors, velvet fabrics, and metallic finishes
In transforming this three-bedroom condo unit, interior designer Claudine Medina had to take into consideration the owners' request to have a modern luxe home which will be an upgrade from the smaller unit where they used to live. In addition to this, the designer also had to make sure the unit looks and feels brand-new. “It was previously rented out so the space was beat up before we started the interior renovation. Since the owners will personally use the unit, they wanted to transform the space completely to remove the ‘remnants’ of the previous tenants,” explains Claudine.
The unit underwent an overhaul, with most of the finishes replaced except for the gold Calacatta marble design porcelain tiles in the living-dining areas. Working on the unit was a breeze as the owners have experience handling interior design and construction projects. “We were able to decide on the suppliers quickly and they also helped me with the supplier coordination since they know some of them personally,” Claudine shares.

View from the Entrance
From the main door, guests will be treated to a visual spectacle of neutral colors and plush finishes. The Calacatta marble tile flooring immediately catches the attention as it works well with the rest of the pieces in the home. Claudine says that the owners wanted tiles in the general areas of the unit.
Dining Area
The dining set features a table that mirrors the flooring and dark-colored chairs. “My clients wanted a darker shade for the seat cushions so they’re easier to maintain. Should there be food spills, they won’t be as noticeable as well,” explains the designer.

Living Area
In revamping the living area, the owners requested for a comfortable sofa and storage nooks where they can display their favorite things. To anchor the living area while still highlighting the lovely flooring, the designer chose a carpet that gives a nice contrast to the tiles.

To ensure the comfort of the owners and their guests, Claudine chose a three-seater sofa with an upholstered chaise lounge and two accent chairs—a perfect combination not just for lounging, but for entertaining guests as well.
The interior designer also incorporated a mix of open and built-in pieces to address the need for storage. “We added lights under the shelves to highlight the items on display which include their liquor collection, travel souvenirs, books, and other knickknacks.
A few steps from the entertainment center is a multipurpose sideboard that functions as a shoe cabinet, a disinfection station, a mini bar, and a display area for family photos.

Kitchen
Since the owners love to cook, it’s a must to have a bright and functional kitchen. To improve the existing layout, a sliding door enclosure was removed, enabling them to add more counter space and a breakfast nook. Mirroring the look of the dining chairs, the seats in the breakfast nook feature a darker shade of velvet fabric.
With only one light provision, Claudine added ample downlights and under-cabinet lighting to make sure the area is well-illuminated.
Similar patterns and finishes seen in the living and dining areas can be seen in the kitchen to achieve a cohesive look. For storage, the designer added open and closed storage units, too. “We also added a pantry cabinet and an appliance corner where my clients can store their everyday kitchen gadgets,” she says.
First Bedroom/Nursery
To match the theme, the room is completed with a neutral-colored graphic wallpaper from Wallcrown. There are also enough storage units to accommodate toys, books, and baby items.
Guest Room
“My clients wanted to convert this room into a guest room, home office, and storage space. We made sure to recommend a multipurpose day bed which can also be used as a storage unit,” shares Claudine.
The work nook is completed with a spacious desk, a comfortable chair, and wall-mounted shelves.
Master Bedroom
To achieve the cozy ambiance the owners wanted, the designer used softer finishes such as wood laminate planks for the floor and curtains as window treatment. “We also continued the same wall paneling design from the hallway in this room for consistency,” says Claudine.
Claudine also had to close off the window by the TV wall with a semi-fixed board to make sure the TV is at the center as requested by the owners.
Master Bathroom
According to the designer, the bathroom was dark and with worn-out finishes before the renovation so they had to replace everything from the ceiling to the flooring. To give it a new look, they used Calacatta marble design porcelain tiles and subway tiles in a herringbone pattern as accent.
Guest Bathroom
“The clients wanted a more fun look for the guest bathroom so we experimented with bolder finishes but in neutral colors so it’s still consistent with the general color scheme of the unit,” explains Claudine.
The sink storage is defined with a wallpaper that mirrors the framed print on display above the water closet for a cohesive look.
