Eclectic Pieces update a 72sqm Condo
A Modern Asian-inspired small space is transformed with Scandinavian design and pop culture references.
The style of any home should evolve along with the hobbies and interests of the owners. In the case of the 72sqm condo of interior designer Wilmer Lopez and Thor Balanon, the space was first influenced by Modern Oriental design. However, after traveling to Sweden, Denmark, and the Netherlands, the pair decided to give their place a makeover using Scandinavian design elements and a combination of fun and quirky details.
Bare white walls were replaced with novelty wallpaper from Amsterdam, including a bold floral pattern in the foyer and an unexpected cartoon skull print in the dining area. The two-bedroom unit becomes more interesting because of a pair of upholstered vintage chairs from Space Encounters in the foyer, the Papa Bear armchair by Hans Wegner in the living room, and an Egg chair by Arne Jacobsen in the dining room. Framed Andy Warhol and Hans Christian Andersen prints and a toy collection with pieces from Hong Kong and Thailand complete the look of the high-rise property.
