For a couple who wanted a simple, low-maintenance style for their three-bedroom condo unit, interior designer Gelo del Mundo drew inspiration from the cool vibe of New York City apartments. For a hip and stylish look, he chose a subdued color scheme and mid-century modern furniture and furnishings.

Just like most New York apartments, the space is defined with distinct wall features such as faux bricks and wallpaper with different patterns. The urban appeal is also emphasized with the use of new pieces that have a vintage, distressed look.

Black-and-white wallpaper with a striking botanical print welcomes guests into the three-bedroom condo unit. The look is completed with a black Kennedy mid-century modern chair.

Living Room

In the living area, the eye is drawn to a white faux brick wall, which is a modern take on the brick walls often seen in New York apartments. Flush against the wall is a dark-colored L-shaped sectional sofa topped with blue, gray, and yellow throw pillows. A metal end table and a bright yellow stool from a local export and antiques supplier alongside a mid-century modern chair and a media cabinet from Space Encounters can also be found in the space.

Dining Room

The dining room is furnished with a customized oval table and upholstered mid-century modern style chairs. Industrial droplights illuminate the black candlesticks and sculptural wooden puzzles from Bali on the table.

Next to the wall is a white cabinet adorned with a fun and eclectic mix of pieces, including a pair of yellow ceramic owls.

Interior Wall

The other side of the pass-through window is disguised with more mirrors in black frames.

For an interesting look in a limited space, the pass-through window of the kitchen is covered with a wall-mounted mirror. The mirror hangs over a stainless steel sink on a black counter.

Silver-colored boxes atop the wooden cabinets add shine and sparkle to the high-rise unit. They can be used as decorative pieces and to store knick knacks.

Custom Pattern

Unusual knobs such as these black-and-white hand-painted handles instantly spruce up any cabinet or drawer in the home.

A tall wooden cabinet from a furniture exporter in Pampanga stands in a common area of the space.

The spacious master bedroom opens with a wooden desk and a fully-upholstered chair that serves as a study and vanity area. On the other side of the room is a bed with slim metal posts. Facing the bed is a recycled console from Resurrection Furniture and Found Objects Gallery.

Recycled Console

The interesting console was purchased at Resurrection Furniture and Found Objects Gallery.

To complement the muted palette of the condo, pastel-colored furniture pieces such as this light blue stool by the bed are used to bring life to the unit.

Guest Bedroom

In the guest bedroom, wallpaper with an architectural print draws the eye toward the bed with a gray tufted headboard.
