One of the challenging parts of renovating a home involves finalizing the look and feel of the space. If you’re working with a design professional, chances are, you’d have to take into consideration his or her suggestions, too. While most designers have a signature look, they can marry it with what you have in mind to be able to help you achieve your best home yet. In sprucing up this 126sqm two-bedroom unit, interior designer Athena Maramag worked on a classic, conservative look that the owner wanted. “I don’t go for super trendy interiors, but I don’t want to be known for a certain look, either. As long as my projects look good, regardless of the theme, I’m okay with that,” the designer shares.

After this unit’s makeover, it does look good and the ambiance will make you want to stay indoors all day. Finishing the project was quite easy for the designer as the unit came with built-in pieces, lighting fixtures, AC units, and a couple of décor pieces. Athena decorated the space and turned it into a cozy, hotel-like escape in the city. “My client wanted to reuse what we could reuse. Functional naman lahat ng built-in [fixtures], so we kept most of them. As for the colors, I focused on a neutral palette for the walls and furniture. Originally, the walls were in a sickly yellow color, almost sepia, which made the unit look older than it really was,” she explains.
