While white can make any space seem bigger and more spacious, it has a tendency to look flat and boring. When the owner of this unit expressed his desire to have a clean and all-white home, architects Justin Espejo, Paolo Balatbat, and Abe Alejandro of Minimalist Manila faced a tricky design challenge. “The main challenge was how to select materials and furniture that would fit the client’s wish for an all-white design. We knew that it runs the risk of being boring, so we had to be careful in the selection of the materials for the flooring and the walls. In hindsight, the challenge was how we’re going to break the client’s brief without him feeling that we’re breaking it,” explains Justin.

See how this home was styled in the video below:

To deliver the owner’s dream home without making it too plain, the design team incorporated raw material finishes like concrete and wood into the look, brought in Scandinavian furniture, and showcased brick tiles. Despite the deadlines and the strict construction schedule of the building, Minimalist Manila and its partner contractor BLK44, were able to finish the project. Moving in and seeing everything in place was an unforgettable moment for the owner. After all, who wouldn’t love coming home to an inviting space that was once only a dream concept?
