An All-White 20sqm Studio Unit in Quezon City
Taking inspiration from Scandinavian design, the homeowner brought the empty unit to life with small-space-friendly furniture and indoor plants
When Emir decided to study in Manila, he had to find a place to live in. Hailing from Tarlac, he knew it will be more practical to have a second home that’s near his school. After stumbling upon this condo unit in Quezon City, he didn’t have solid plans of designing the space. “I just wanted a space na I can move in. ‘Nung pinakita sakin, naka-paint na siya ng basic white. Kaya naisip ko pwedeng Scandinavian, para matipid and hindi na ako magre-repaint,” he shares.
The next step for Emir was to find a reliable supplier who can help him complete the look of his unit. “Hindi ko alam kung kanino ako magpapagawa ng mga pieces. Eh gusto ko talaga built-in to save on space. Nahirapan ako maghanap ng contractor na bibigyan ako ng murang presyo,” Emir relates. Fortunately, fate willed him to work with Hannah Banana Woodworks Shoppe, a supplier of customized furniture and other home improvement essentials. Slowly but surely, Emir saw his 20sqm unit transform into a bright and welcoming Scandinavian-inspired haven. “I learned that you don’t need to buy an expensive or large unit if you know how to plan the space well. If you’re creative, you can have a well-planned layout kahit maliit lang siya,” he says.
