A Modern Tropical House in Taguig City

Interior designer Wilan Dayrit chooses natural materials like wood and stone for this family home

As soon as she saw the work of interior designer Wilan Dayrit in Real Living, homeowner Joanne de Guzman knew that he could create the perfect family home. For Joanne's brand new house in Taguig City, Wilan chose an open layout that would make the place seem bigger than it really is. He also filled the rooms with furniture and decor made from wood and stone.

The open layout and interesting pieces made from natural materials also turned the De Guzman residence into a calm, peaceful, and relaxing haven.

Living Area

The living area reminds us of a beautiful modern tropical resort! We love the natural light, earth colors, and pieces made from wood, stone, and glass.

The space is furnished with a gray sofa customized by Asian Tropical Lifestyle and a glass-top coffee table by Eric Paras of a11

Dining Area

According to Wilan, he chose an archetypal look for this family home — this means that the furniture pieces have basic forms and shapes! In line with this though, the dining area is furnished with a rustic-industrial lighting fixture with a a metallic finish and a cool geometric shape.

The dining table and chairs were customized by Asian Tropical Lifestyle.

Dining Area

If you look closely, you would see that the customized dining table is made with Mactan stone from Cebu. This unexpected touch makes the piece even more special.

Cabinet and Stool

This corner is completed with a tall wooden cabinet and a bronze stool with a unique shape.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom is also filled with details that you don't often see in Filipino homes! Unlike other spaces that may have a white ceiling and a wooden floor, this particular haven surprisingly has a wooden ceiling and a white floor

We are smitten with the stitching on the headboard and bed frame. We also like the utilitarian feel of the bedside table and the charming appeal of the cowhide rug

Home Office

This area of the master bedroom is used as a home office. It is furnished with a sturdy work desk, a fully upholstered chair, and framed black-and-white prints.

Walk-In Closet

The guest room has been turned into a spacious walk-in closet — the type of space that many women (and men!) dream of having. The open shelves and cabinets allow the homeowner to instantly see all of her clothes, accessories, and other belongings
