Whether it’s a quick trip to the beach or a summer-long vacation in the province—many of us look forward to any form of respite from our busy city lives. While spending quality time with the family in a faraway location sounds splendid, there are some who invest in little tweaks around the house to turn it into a mini oasis they can always come home to.

Take inspiration from this studio unit in Taguig. With a goal of creating a tranquil sanctuary where his family can relax, interact, and take a breather, designer Ivan Enteria revamped the once plain unit into a modern tropical haven reminiscent of a charming bucolic escape. To say that the renovation was a success would be an understatement. It’s hard not to fall in love with the place the moment you step in—with its calming vibe, laid-back atmosphere, and pieces that seem to invite you to rest and unwind. Given the project’s budget and the minimal amount of natural light coming from the outside, Ivan was still able to create an indoor-outdoor synergy that makes the unit extra special. With inputs from his friend, interior designer Angelo Aguilar, his family can now experience paradise without leaving the city.
