Starting your own indoor garden can be difficult, especially if you’re coming in clueless, feel like you don’t have a green thumb, or think that you’re too lazy to keep on watering and maintaining them. The good news, however, is there are plants that are tough enough to outlast even the most tamad caretakers: take it from this plantito who shifted from taking care of soil-based to water-based plants.

Menard AV Reyes shares that it was a friend who introduced him to the technique. “Sabi ko, ‘Siguro puwede, kaya lang malamok. Araw-araw magdidilig ka. Araw-araw, ilalabas mo.” His friend assured him that it wouldn’t be the case.

Growing indoor water-based plants involves getting healthy cuttings, a clear container (soda bottle bottoms work great), and root growers, which act as your plants source of nutrients. “Hindi ko siya pinapalitan ng water,” he says. “As in nagdadagdag lang ako.”
