Style A Desk 3 Ways: for Toddlers, Teens, and the Yuppie
Evolve with the style of your youngsters with these tricks
Gone are the days of basic kids' study areas. Today, most parents exert an incredible amount of effort in building a space that's not only pretty but also functional for their children.
We can't say we're surprised. After all, the study area is part of their personal space and it should reflect their choices and interests too. However, as they grow older, their style and preferences also change. To help you figure out the type of space they need, we've come up with three desk styles that would suit any age!

For the toddlers
If you are building a space for Kindergartners, try to meet these three standards: accessibility, mobility, and accident-proofing. Since kids move around a lot, it's important to store harmful items such as scissors or craft cutters in a place where they can't reach it. As for the things that they use a lot like crayons and notebooks, it's important that they can easily grab these even when you're not around.
RL Tip: Try to inject as much color as you can in this area. Aside from being aesthetically pleasing, this can help them learn the different hues too!

For the teenagers
Highschool is the time where your home is going to be filled with textbooks and projects. Make sure you add enough storage to your teen's working area—add a small closet for extra school supplies, shelves for books, and binders plus cubbyholes for items they need often like laptop chargers or camera batteries.
RL Tip: Since teens can easily change their minds about what they like, stick with pastels and other light hues so it would be easier to match with new fixtures.

For the college student
Once your little lady enters university, she'll probably retire her hot pink and frilly pieces from her younger years. Give her desk a fun new look with streamlined pieces that will make her feel grown up mixed with quirky accessories that will keep her in touch with her youthful side.
RL Tip: Consider adding a marquee with words of encouragement and gold accessories to remind her to shine bright!
