Discover the important steps you might have missed while painting your concrete surface

Q: Do you have any repainting tips for concrete surfaces with powderized old paint? We tried scraping the old paint and repainted over it, but it flaked off only after a few months.—Lilia Benigra-Unite via Facebook

A: Unfortunately, scraping off the old paint is only the first step in repainting concrete walls. You have to make sure to remove as much of the old paint off and clean the surface with a TSP (trisodium phosphate) solution to remove grease and oil. You must also rinse the surface well and let dry for several days. After this, you can patch holes and gaps and apply masilya, and seal if needed before applying the new paint.
