6 Easy and Effective Tips For Becoming A Minimalist

We often think minimalism is just about decluttering, but it's not. It's more of evaluating if the items you have at home are still essential or they still spark joy. If you want to learn more about this way of living, check out all the takeaways we found on YouTuber Vivian of Vividotme's minimalist apartment tour. She shared a lot of tips and basic concepts of minimalism.

2. Minimalism is not just about physical items.

Living intentionally means you are more in control of what things you allow to enter your life. This includes relationships, emotions, and thoughts.

5. Having fewer items makes it easier to organize your space.

When you have fewer belongings, your home becomes a clutter-free space. It will be easier for you to tidy up and organize! Cleaning up becomes a simpler task.

4. Don't rush purchases.

For Vivian, she considers each piece carefully before it takes a spot in her house. She holds off purchasing an item for weeks so she can decipher if she really needs it. This also applies when she can't find a particular product—she waited until she could find the exact bed frame she wanted.

5. You can still treat yourself.

Vivian invested in a coffee machine, durable furniture, organic cotton bed sheets, and effective beauty products. She purchased items that will elevate her lifestyle. This means it's okay to buy expensive items as long as these will last a lifetime and will be used daily.

6. Look around and check which items are still essential.

She always checks if the clothes and makeup she owns are worn often. Anything that doesn't fall under this category should be let go of.

7. Understand that everyone's concept of minimalism is different.

There are no hard and fast rules on minimalism. It depends on how one interprets this major concept: It is owning fewer possessions and living with intention. But this doesn't mean that you should deprive yourself of knickknacks that will make your life fun. Minimalism shouldn't get in the way of your happiness!
