Jumpstart Your Day: 5 Memorable Oscar Nominated Production Designs

Check out how each can be the perfect peg for your dream home

After the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards, many film buffs can’t wait to celebrate Hollywood’s biggest night—the Academy Awards. Apart from the glitz and glamour on the red carpet, all eyes are on the awarding proper—anxiously waiting as to who and which film will snatch the coveted Oscar trophy.

To join in on the fever, we’ve collated five Academy-approved production designs that you can use as pegs for your home. After all, beyond the superb script and acting chops, the set and overall production contribute a lot to the story and how it affects us.

Anna Karenina

Based on Leo Tolstoy’s novel of the same name, the movie gives the audience a peek into the lives of socialites; and the affairs they keep. We especially loved the costumes and the incredible sets that speak of luxury.

This young couple's townhouse features a French style with a romantic feel. Designed with the help of decorator and former Real Living creative director Gwyn Guanzon, it also has classic elements paired with modern pieces. Some of the picks that remind us of Anna Karenina include the Neo-baroque black chandeliers and decorative stickers on the walls.

Alice in Wonderland

Some say that Tim Burton’s approach to the well-loved classic is a bit dark but we still love how the set made us feel like we’re in Wonderland too. We’d love to walk around the forest, have tea with the Mad Hatter, and maybe pay a visit to the White Queen as well.

Interior designer Jean Suzanne Sy's charming project in Bulacan looks straight out of a fairy tale. The Shabby chic style featuring hints of blue and distressed furniture give the space a cozy vibe that one would love to come home to.
