A tiny countertop or breakfast nook should not limit you to bad style. TV producer Nessa Valdellon made her condo kitchen extra-special by having Keystone Lamps customize a pendant lamp inspiration she spotted, while a field trip to Pampanga yielded these woven solihiya-seat bar stools from Venzon Lighting.

Playful design was the name of the game when stylist Julienne Cruz decorated her Millennial client’s condo unit. Instead of going for the usual white subway tiles, Julienne chose mismatched tiles in the same color palette to highlight the tiny sink area.

Interior designer and up-cycler Willie Garcia is fond of nature and greens, but this compact condo kitchen was located too far away from the window for any live plants. Her solution: faux plants on the ceiling, plus a whimsical ivy-patterned wallpaper for a lush and charming look.

Corner niche

In this soothing, sage-green condo unit by Angelica Dumalus, the interior designer maximized the usual dead space of a kitchen corner by sneaking in a niche for extra storage.

Column storage


In the same kitchen, Angelica added three more space-enhancing tricks: a column that has extra niches, a cabinet with door to hide clutter or shoes, plus a floor-to-ceiling mirror on the side to make the room look bigger.

Sculptural countertop


A Brutalist aesthetic pervades throughout this 33sqm unit, and the theme extends right to the kitchen. Interior designer Billie dela Cruz made it into a standout spot by commissioning artist Ralph David to create a sculptural table/countertop, complete with built-in strip lights. The dramatic table has since become the focal point in the unit.
