Check It Out: 4 Couples Built a Community of Tiny Homes
The Bestie Row is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city
As kids, we all had the same fantasy: to live in the same house or neighborhood as our best friends. For Fred and Jodi Zipp, and three of their buddies, however, having that dream wasn't enough, so they decided to build a community of tiny homes where they could spend weekends together.
Having been friends for over 20 years, the four couples bought a land along the Llano River in Texas and built several off-grid homes themselves. They called it the “Llano Exit Strategy” but netizens decided that “Bestie Row” was a more appropriate name. Originally, they planned to build one big house, but realized personal spaces are important to them. Together with Architect Matt Garcia, they designed a communal space where they can bond and hang out with each other and four sectioned-off spaces where they could relax afterwards.
