With many homeowners moving into smaller spaces and apartments nowadays, the next challenge has always been how to set it apart from other homes. Aside from adding personal touches, fascinating knickknacks, and other functional furniture, you may also want to revisit some of our well-loved small spaces for inspiration.

From having a catchy focal piece, an impressive wall accent, or an appealing color palette—these homes are bursting with ideas that you’d surely love to try:

The Look: Urban Tropical

Given the fast-paced city life, we all want to come home to our very own oasis where we can feel relaxed and safe. If this is the same feel you'd want for your space, you may take inspiration from this one-bedroom condo designed by Espasyo Manila. Invest in furniture pieces in earth colors and wooden accents.

First step: To get you started, you may want to bring in a lot of plants! You can work with herbs, succulents, or green wonders that can purify the air at home.

The Look: Sophisticated with a Hotel-Like Feel

Those who'd want to incorporate big pieces into a compact space can take their cue from this one-bedroom home designed by AGSiochi Architecture & Design. Set the tone of the space with wallpaper—the one used in this home features a floral print in a vintage-inspired hue.

First step: More than just an accent wall, your wallpaper could serve as the backdrop that can help you choose the rest of the decor and furniture.

The Look: Modern with Vintage Touches

To make a small space stand out, you may choose to work with two different styles that complement each other. For this 114sqm condo designed by Nyne Corporation, rustic details blend perfectly with modern pieces and accessories.

First step: Choose which styles you'd love to work with first. Once you've decided, start sourcing for accent pieces that you can add to your space. If you love the feel of this condo home, you can work on the lighting fixtures first. A captivating chandelier would look lovely against rustic interiors.

The Look: Rustic-Industrial

It's hard not to fall in love with this studio unit's theme. It's spacious and cozy—with an ambiance that would remind you of coffee shops. Aside from the industrial-inspired pieces, it also has multifunctional furniture pieces that maximize space and ensure comfort.

First step: To define an area and create an accent, work with something unexpected. In this condo, interior designer Ruby Besira chose wood vinyl to spruce up the wall in the foyer/living area. Aside from this treatment, you can also opt for concrete walls.

The Look: Sophisticated and Timeless

Unexpected colors, big pieces, and striking details come together in this compact 22sqm studio unit. To make it possible, the TKSL Interior Design team strived for balance—using beige and an off-white hue as canvas.

First step: Incorporate big pieces into your home by turning them into focal points. In this home, a huge mirror from Pampanga defines the foyer. Meanwhile, the entertainment/storage center with multiple cabinets maximize the space in the living/sleeping area and make it more functional.
