4 Ways to Use Red in Interiors

Try it out—you won't regret it!

Red evokes passion, romance, and can be a dramatic focal point in a room. But because of its vibrancy, some homeowners veer away from using this color. It may come off as too strong and overbearing instead of creating a beautiful impression. Have you always been afraid of using this color? Don’t be. Here are different ways on how you can use it in a room:

1. Red walls

Want red on your walls? Go ahead and do so. Look how red makes this dining room inviting. Complement your red wall with white mouldings, baseboard, and white ceiling to tone down its dramatic effect. Furniture pieces don’t have to be white. Feel free to use pieces that sport other neutral colors like black or gray.

2. Red furniture

A red furniture piece can easily become the focal point in a room. Accent pieces and accessories don’t have to come in neutral colors. They can be patterned, as long as they have doses of red or colors that go well with red like blue, green, or yellow. Paint your wall in a deep shade to make the look sophisticated.

3. Red nook

Still a bit wary of using red in large doses? A reading nook is a great place to start. All you need is a red, cozy chair, a side table, and your favorite books. Keep the look updated by using a modern chair, like this Womb Chair with footstool.

4. Red accessories

If you want to add red in smaller doses, you can use red accessories like throw pillows and rugs. A pop of red can instantly liven up a neutral space. And the best part? If you don’t want red in your space anymore, you can simply change your accessories.
