3 Makeover Ideas For Your Spare Closet

Turn dead spots into functional spaces with these ideas

As much as we would like to devote separate rooms for different purposes, a lot of us live in smaller homes like one-bedroom condos and loft-type apartments. Instead of taking up extra floor space in your already limited area, have you ever considered turning your hallway or guest closet into a more functional spot?

The best thing about these makeshift workspaces is you can simply shut the doors and hide it from view. Whether you're looking into carving out more space at home or you just need a special nook for yourself, here are some ideas that may inspire you:

If you work on a lot of crafts, consider transforming your unused closet into a permanent home for art supplies, sewing machines, and rolls of fabric. You can also add shelving to create more storage for smaller items.

With all that extra vertical space, closets turned into offices are perfect as paperwork storage. Keep yours stocked with enough office supplies and a mini file cabinet so you never have to hunt for random receipts. You can also go with a foldable chair so you're able to store it under your desk when you have to close your workspace.

For those who don't have enough space in the bedroom or bathroom for a vanity, an unused linen closet can be a great spot for building one. Line the walls with dainty wallpaper, add a decorative mirror and a few scented candles and you've got a pampering station that's all yours.
