A 24sqm Unit for a Filipino Artist in Makati

The Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID) graduating students envisioned the perfect space for a tattoo artist, illustrator, and musician

What can you do with a 24sqm homeThe Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID) graduating students explore the possibilities through Studio 24, an interior design exhibit with 24 different units that measure 24 square meters each.

One of the 24 spaces is a studio unit for a tattoo artist, illustrator, and musician in her late twenties. Here are the 4 things that caught our attention in this small space:

The Style Inspired by the Northern Cordilleras

Graduating students Ana Alfelor, Denice Henson, Lala Favoreal, Jennifer Cañada, and James Asprer drew inspiration from the natural curves of the rice terraces and the intricate geometric patterns of the Kalinga batik tattoos. We love the combination of sinuous forms and clean lines.

The Filipino Materials

For a distinctly Pinoy feel, the students also chose finishes like bamboo, brass, banig, carabao horn, and natural wood.

The Kitchen Tiles

Bored with the usual square cut tiles? You can also consider using rectangle tiles to form V and inverted V shapes! This can create a woven pattern that will make your kitchen backsplash stand out.

The Batik Details

If you look closely, you would see that the studio unit is filled with batik patterns. These can be found on the ceiling and on the accent wall in the open bathroom.

Studio 24 will run from October 3 to 31, 2015 at the Ronac Lifestyle Center, Paseo de Magallanes, Makati City. Admission is free.
