5 Ideas to Steal from a Two-Storey House in San Pablo, Laguna

Let this country cottage inspire you to update your own home

Homeowner Vinya Alcantara, mother of Casa San Pablo proprietor Boots Alcantara, lives in this classic country cottage with a pitched roof and brick walls. She furnished the traditional two-storey house with antique pieces, rustic decor, and potted plants.

If you like this family home as much as we do, here are the five things that you can learn from this particular place:

Place potted plants by the front door

If you live in a condo, apartment, or another place without an outdoor area, you may want to keep potted plants by your front door. A row of potted plants can welcome you and your loved ones into your home.

Use different pieces

If you look closely, you might notice that the pieces in this living area seem to come from different places. If you would also like a relaxed and eclectic feel for your own place, you may also want to consider various items.

For example, you can complement a wooden bench from a furniture store with an antique rocking chair or tumba-tumba from your parents' house. Move your pieces around until you find a layout and combination that pleases you.

Create a reading nook

Do you have an empty corner next to a big window? You may want to turn the bare space into a private nook for you. You can simply furnish it with a comfortable seat or two and a small table for gadgets, books, and merienda

Go back to basics

If you want to have a quaint and charming dining area, you can stick to a plain and simple wooden dining set.

RL Tip: You can complete your own dining area with a wrought iron chandelier and a framed artwork hanging above a buffet table. To prevent the space from appearing dull and drab, you must bring in potted plants.

Hang pots and pans from an open rack

Instead of storing your pots and pans in drawers and cabinets, you may want to hang and display the pieces. This would make it easier for you to find the item that you need. Once you are ready to prepare breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you can simply grab the cookware of choice.
