Shall we say: #closetgoals?

Singaporean influencer and entrepreneur Jamie Chua is better known as the woman who owns one of the biggest collections of Hermes bags in the world, but her closet space is as interesting as her luxury goods.

Jamie's 65sqm walk-in-closet is as big as most two-bedroom condo units, and features customized cabinets, an area each for her shoes and her prized Hermes bag collection, and drawers for her watches, jewelry, sunglasses, and other accessories. Entry to her closet can only be accessed through a fingerprint-sensitive biometric security system, ensuring that nothing can be stolen!

We may not have Jamie's million-dollar wardrobe, but we can get some sensible closet organizing ideas from her. Here are a few:

Organize clothing by type.

Jamie organizes her clothes by type, with the shirts all together, the skirts and bottoms in one closet, all the evening gowns together, and so forth. This will make it easier for you to pick a specific clothing tyoe without digging through everything. Tip: You can go one level better by organizing your clothes by color!

Place foldable clothes like sweaters and knitted items on shelves.

Clothes that could pulled down and deformed by its weight if hung on hangers just like sweaters and heavy tops should be folded neatly and stored on shelves.

Consider vertical, pull-out storage to save space.

Jamie's pull-out customized cabinets may be a luxe touch, but this closet system can actually save space, more than using the typical swing-out cabinet door system.

Store accessories separately in individual drawers.

We may not have Jamie's diamond bling collection, but we can cop her idea of having accessories drawers. To prevent accessories such as belts from snagging onto clothes, and watches from getting lost in the pile. You don't even have to have these customized; just add drawer or simple kitchen utensil organizers (available at major home stores) into your drawers.

Have proper lighting, and keep frequently-used items in clear view.

Jamie mentions halfway into the video that the reason she keeps all her bags and shoes out in the open is not to simply display them, but to keep them visible and easily accessible when she dresses up in the morning. And don't forget to install proper lighting, whether overhead or closet-door-activated.
