Is Your Kitchen Sponge Dirtier Than Your Toilet?
Watch this video to find out, and learn from a doctor how to clean your sponge effectively

We've mentioned in past articles just how dirty your kitchen sponge could get. But did you know that your kitchen sponge can be dirtier than your toilet bowl? (Cringe!)
According to this segment on the TV talk show The Doctors, Dr. Travis Lane Stork says that according to a German study, the typical kitchen sponge can harbor all sorts of harmful germs and bacteria from "staph (staphylococcus), salmonella, e. coli, and listeria," among many others.
Apparently, a moist and warm sponge is the ideal breeding ground for all sorts of bacteria. The doctor says that the most effective way to disinfect the sponge is "good old fashioned bleach." Here's how: mix one quarter of a cup of bleach with one gallon of water, soak your sponges in the solution for five minutes, rinse thoroughly, and let dry.
