How-To: Clean Your Kitchen Sink And Drain Properly
This four-step method can help you avoid clogging in the future, too!
Given how much water runs through the kitchen sink in an entire day, one would think that it would be relatively clean. Little do we know, water isn't enough to keep the germs and bacteria out—you need to sanitize! Keep your cooking corner disposal clean and safe with this step-by-step guide:Â
What you need:Â
- Dishwashing Liquid
- Soap
- White Vinegar
- Baking Soda
- LemonÂ
- Old Toothbrush
- Washcloth
- Paper Towels
How-to:Â
1. Sprinkle baking soda onto the surface of your sink while working it into a paste as you scrub the area. Next, line the sink with paper towels soaked in white vinegar. Allow these to sit for 10 to 20 minutes. Dispose of the paper towels and rinse everything thoroughly.
2. For the faucets and other handles, wipe them with a mild soapy solution. You can use a soft toothbrush to get in the hard-to-reach areas. Rinse thoroughly.Â
3. Sprinkle a half cup of baking soda down the drain then add one cup of white vinegar. This mixture will fizz and make a bit of noise which means it's working. Allow this to work for a few minutes while you boil a kettle of hot water. Pour boiling water down the drain.
4. Last but not the least, cut a lemon or lime in half. While the water is running, squeeze in lemon juice to the disposal. This will help clean and deodorize your drain further.
