It comes as no surprise that powdered detergent is a mainstay in every Filipino laundry area. Unlike its liquid counterpart, it is the cheaper option and it can be used in more ways than one. However, similar to other mass-produced cleaners, most of these are made with a ton of chemicals or is extended with a ton of chalk making it less effective. If you’ve been looking for a natural substitute, we’ve got you covered. Check out this recipe for an easy, organic laundry soap:

What you need:

How-to:

  1. Cut the bars of soap into large chunks then place it inside the food processor together with the washing soda.
  2. Keep it in the processor until you're left with white, fine powder.
  3. Pour into a clean and dry container or jar.
  4. Use as you would store-bought detergent.
