From giving her flowers to preparing cards and special gifts—we've done it all to make Mom extra happy on Mother's Day. This year, if you're planning to do something different and sweet, you may want to prep a special meal that will surely impress the lady of the house. Get ready to transform the dining area into a cozy spot that will remind you and your Mom of picnics with these tips:

1. Bring the outdoors in.

Achieve a setup that's reminiscent of the outdoors by working with floral prints, colorful dinnerware, and a refreshing centerpiece. Aside from colors like yellow, pink, and green—you can also bet on blue for a calming and bright dining experience.

2. Pick a floral centerpiece.

Celebrate the month of May and your Mom's special day with dainty blooms as your centerpiece. You can place them in low vases or mason jars for a quirky appeal. Feeling extra creative? Bring out some colorful planters and use them instead! You can also lay a few stems on top of a pretty tray or a wooden chopping board.

RL Tip: When choosing flowers, you may opt for white, yellow, or orange blooms. White gives off a clean look while yellow and orange can brighten up the setup and stimulate your appetite.

3. Prep the dinnerware.

If you're serving her favorite dishes, you'd want these to be the star of the table. Use delicate ceramic plates and place these on top of wicker chargers. You can also bring out basic flatware in brushed metal for a relaxed feel. Simple serving plates and wooden chopping boards that can hold desserts may also come in handy.

4. Do away with ordinary glasses.

Keep the vibe light and casual with fruit juices served in milk bottle glasses or mason jars. Complete the look with colorful paper straws.

Find milk bottle glasses and mason jars at Crate & Barrel, SM Makati, Courtyard Drive, San Lorenzo Village, Makati City.

5. Let your linen shine.

What better way to highlight the feel of the outdoors than with a flora-inspired tablecloth? This will work well with your chosen dinnerware and centerpiece for a cheerful celebration. If you're working with a tablecloth with huge prints, make sure your napkins are solid-colored or have small patterns to avoid an overdecorated look.

Find pretty tablecloths at H&M Home, G/F, SM Makati, Hotel Drive, Makati City.

RL Tip: Before you end the day, don't forget to take a photo with Mom! Frame the snapshot and make sure you display it at home. For another beautiful and memorable souvenir, you can give her extra flowers that she can use as decor. Click here for gift ideas from Flora Vida by Marian.
