If last year's Pantone palette (Serenity and Rose Quartz) was dubbed a unisex one, what with the gender-equality and flexibility its colors represent, Pantone's Spring-Summer 2017 colors, as reported by Design Taxi, collectively evoke a sense of being one with nature: from the ocean-like Island Paradise to the dramatic sunset that is Flame, and the warm, earthy feel of Hazelnut.

Following the announcement, plenty of interior designers have been featuring their works using one or more of these colors in one space. Given that some of the colors are overwhelming on their own, it might seem a bit challenging to mix and match these hues. But believe us, the results of these wonderful creative people are truly beautiful and inspiring. Here are five of our favorites, most of them as seen in Real Living magazine’s featured spaces:

Soft Blues

Go for a monochromatic look with the blues of this palette in Van Acuña’s bedroom design: classic and dependable Island Paradise blue for your walls for a more homey and comfortable feel; and muted neutrals of oatmeal and cream to add to the soothing ambience. Paint swatches from Boysen

Dogwood and Hazelnut

Pale Dogwood (a light pinkish-peach) and Hazelnut (a subtle brown-beige) a sense of calmness and earthiness that works well for both small and large spaces. Their marriage brings to mind a European style because of its simple aesthetic. While both are muted hues, this classic room above is far from feeling boring because of the gold accents. Almond Pastels

This bedroom makeover by interior designer Vera Villarosa-Orila is spot-on with regards to the Pantone tints of Dogwood, Hazelnut, and Island Paradise. The feminine pastels here are offset by medium-gray accents and décor. To see more of this makeover, click here. Paint swatches from True Value

Summer Brights

Throw in as much color you can without making your room look like a disaster by having one design element feature all the colors together. This Batangas living room by decorator Gwyn Guanzon incorporates Greenery, Flame, Primrose Yellow, and Island Paradise in the decorative accessories and paintings—a clever way to throw in bold accents without overwhelming the space. Greenery

Celebrate Pantone’s Color of the Year by mixing it in with Kale (a darker green) and a pop of Sapphire Blue. Interior designer Tala Singson nicely interprets this in this tablesetting, as seen in RL’s March 2017 issue. Kind of reminds you of the lush deep green forest with vibrant plants and festive flowers, does it not? Paint swatches from Dulux
