RL Tips: Patching Up A Hole In The Wall

Don’t panic! It can be fixed in less than an hour.

Whether it’s from an old hanging painting or a carpentry mishap, holes in walls can be an eyesore and it can ruin beautiful decor. We won't blame you if it makes you want to call the neighborhood handyman immediately—however, before you reach for the phone, make sure you try to solve it first. No idea where to start? Check out this step-by-step guide: 


What you need: 

  • Wire brush
  • Chisel cut
  • Hammer
  • Cement adhesive
  • Ready-to-mix concrete patch

How-to:

  • Get rid of dust inside the hole with a wire brush. Wash the hole with water and leave it moist.
  • Make the inner part of the hole wider using a chisel cut and hammer. This will help the patch hole onto the wall.
  • Remove loose concrete sediments with a chisel but still make the sides rough.
  • Use water or a thin layer of cement adhesive to moisten the hole.
  • Patch the hole with a ready-to-mix concrete patch or a mixture of one part mortar cement and four parts sand.
