No matter how beautiful your lanai is, no one would want to hang out in it if it’s infested with pesky mosquitoes. These tiny critters can take over any space without warning and leave you with nothing but sore, itchy bites. The solution? Coffee grounds. Most insects are sensitive to smell and mosquitoes cannot stand the aroma burning beans which drive them away from your home. Try this eco-friendly hack by following the step-by-step guide below:

What you need:

  • An old dish
  • Aluminum foil
  • Used coffee grounds

How-to:

  • Let the used coffee grounds dry by setting them aside in a tray. Once dried, place them in a bowl and cover with aluminum foil to keep it fresh.
  • To use it, empty them on a flat surface such as an old porcelain plate that is also covered in foil.
  • Ignite a small flame within the center of the coffee grounds and burn it like you would incense.
  • Wait for the mosquitoes to fly away!
